History of the Institution
Rangia T. T. College was established in the year 1987 by the local people of Rangia Sub-Division under the district of Kamrup. The college was permitted by Gauhati University in 1991 and then was affiliated from the session 1993-94. It was recognized by ERC-NCTE in the year 2004. The Govt. of Assam accorded concurrence to this college in the year 2010.
Rangia Teacher Training College (RTTC), situated at historically renowned place Randia-Rangia, is one of the premier institutions of teacher education not only in Assam but also in whole of India. The college has been catering teacher education to the prospective teachers in the region and offering B. Ed. Degree since its establishment in 1987. The medium of instruction is English. The college is being managed by a Governing Body approved by the Govt. of Asssam & Gauhati University. Rangia is the headquarter of Rangia Subdivision under the district of Kamrup (Rural). National Highway No. 31 has divided the town into two halves. The Rail City Rangia is a junction of the North-East Frontier Railway along with its Divisional Headquarter. The town has 36 secondary educational institutions of Assamese, English, Hindi, Bodo and Bengali medium. Out of these ten schools of different mediums are utilized for Practice Teaching of the student-teachers.
The institution has its own land and building. The total land area is 10702.08 sq. metres which was alloted to Rangia T. T. College by the Govt. of Assam in 1991 vide Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup’s letter no. KRS.13/90/28A dtd. 09.08.91. The college has a residential area accommodating the Principal, grade-III and grade-IV employees. The disabled friendly U-shape building of the institution with two class rooms, one Psychology Laboratory, one I.T. Laboratory, a big Library with Reading Room, Girls’ Common Room, Activity Room etc., was completed in June 2004. The building also includes a big multipurpose hall which can accommodate more than two hundred people. The total built up area of the college campus is 3472.34 sq.m.

Mission and Objectives
1. Promotion of teacher education through:
(a) Three major components: (i) Theoritical Orientation (ii) School Experiences and (iii) Practical work
(b) Organization of learner-centred, activity-based and participatory learning experiences.
(c) Engaging student-teachers to critically examine curriculum, syllabi and text books of secondary stage rather than taking them as ‘accepted’ without question.
(d) Continuous critical appraisal of present evaluation system and appreciation of innovative ideas.
(e) Providing opportunity to student-teachers for reflective and independent study instead of teacher directed activities alone.
(f) Re-conceptualisation of citizenship education in terms of human rights, protection of environment and constitutional values.
(g) Developing better social sensitivity to live in a better world.

The Institution has produced 2850 B. Ed. examination passed candidates from 1987 to 2016.
